1) Focus on learning the main concepts first. The Important parts of learning how to extend study skills for college is to think seriously. In order to do this, you must begin to start asking yourself the "Why?" and "How?" of the material you're studying. Focus on identifying and understanding the under lying concepts, idea, and point of view. Once you get a good feel for the foundation of a particular subject, it will be much easier to remember details and facts since you will have a stand to relate them to. And also, one of the main objectives of a college institution is to develop your critical thinking ability since these are what, set people apart in their careers and in life.

When trying to take in and recall large amounts of data, it's become normal to classify and sort it, to put it into boxes. That is OK, until we need to recover the information. Independent Learning: Homeschooling allows students to learn at their own pace. Years of research have shown the PSI (personal systems of instruction) model to be a quite effective learning system. Students, who have the opportunity to learn the material that they are interested in and at their own pace, often do well. Utilize the bullet and numbered list. It makes your information familiar to attract others and gives the reader a mental break from dividing your paragraphs one after the other. Then select the best design and choose the font that is focus to the eyes, and stick to that font family. Using dozens of fonts will only tire your readers out before they have gotten past your introduction. I have found that the best fonts to use are Arial, Verdana or my favorite Times New Roman. Size should be 14pt. The reason you should use these is because every computer has these fonts pre-installed.
Set a Date - The best way to achieve a goal is to set a date of completion. Agreeing to take the exam in four to five months is not good enough. Set a specific date (i.e., Saturday June 26, 2010) and stick to it. Give yourself  bench marks throughout your study program.

An exam is not like learning in the classroom. A student is required to put down on paper everything they know in a really short period of time. For this reason it’s hugely important to become familiar with the test format before taking the ISEE test. Study tips are great but if you don’t know what you should be studying they are fairly pointless.
